Today is the anniversary of the D-Day landings. I know that none of my family were involved directly, however, they all played their part in WWII. I’m fascinated by the war, ancestry and history in general, so today I meld the three together in a celebration.
Grandpa Cliff, aka Pomp, who served as a chaplain
Grandma Cliff, who was a housewife (not to be underestimated!)
Grandma Cliff’s sister, Sheila, served as a nurse
Their cousin, Betty, was also a nurse
Grandpa Powell served in the RAF, including during The Battle of Britain
Nanny Powell was a land girl who also taught soldiers to shoot
